Junior School - Term 1, Week 2, 2020

Welcome Back
Welcome to the 2020 school year. The students have settled very well and we are now beginning to find a steady routine. It has been wonderful to see the new Kindergarten and Prep students starting. As they become more familiar with the school we will see them engage more in the playground and classroom activities. For the first few weeks it is quite a tentative time, but this usually does not last for long.

Upcoming events will be listed below, please refer to the latest Parents Page for most up to date event details.

Parent Information Evening
This will be held on Monday 10 February, starting at 7pm. We meet in the Performing Arts Centre for a whole school overview and then have a time where you will visit your child’s classroom and hear from the teacher about class specific information. This evening will provide you with an overview of 2020.

Swimming Carnival
The Years 2-4 Swimming Carnival is held next Friday, 14 February. Information has been sent to parents through email, including permission notes and bus requirements for transport to and from the pool.

Please note that an enrolment form must be completed prior to accepting your child in BAASC. Bookings are handled via email and confirmed in writing.

There are no supervised areas in the Junior School after 3:30pm and all students on site after that time must be in the care of parents or attending After School Care.

My communication with you on general school events is through the Parents Page. This is emailed each week as a link and is accessible on the School website, look under the School Life tab. www.pacifichills.net More specific communications will be through email.

When communicating with teachers, please feel free to call the School or speak to a teacher at School. Email is good for quick matters, but teachers may not check them until the end of the day so please ensure for urgent matters that you call the School. If you need to contact the teachers about a sensitive or difficult matter, personal contact is always best. Your child’s classroom teacher is always your first point of contact.

At all times, communications should be polite and respectful.

If you would like to assist in the classroom, at the Fair or at any other activity within the School, please speak to your child’s teacher or visit the Junior School Office.

Junior School Counsellor
The Junior School Counsellor is Mrs Tammy Chen. Mrs Chen is available on Monday and Tuesday and works with students who have a referral. Please speak to your child’s teacher in the first instance.

Quiz Question
Students can write an answer on paper and hand it to the Junior School office before announcements on Wednesday mornings, when we select one winner for a prize from the prize box.

Question: Mr Cox (JS Sports Coordinator) appears on Radio to present a sports report every week. What is the name of the radio station?
