2019 Premier’s Reading Challenge

library notice 01The Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) will commence on 4 March. This challenge is an excellent way to support and encourage reading. The challenge for Junior School is to read 30 age-appropriate books before 30 August, and for Middle School to read 20 age-appropriate books before the same date. Five of these books can be free choice, but the remainder must be chosen from the official PRC book list.

Students who have completed the PRC in previous years can log in using the same username and password as last year. As the challenge is mandatory for Middle School students, all new students will be provided with a username and password to log in to the PRC website.

The challenge is voluntary for Junior School students. To join the competition parents need to request a special PRC username and password for their son or daughter. Please email directly to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and advise your child’s full name and roll class and we will do the rest. Put “PRC [student’s grade]” in the subject if you can. Please note that new accounts cannot be created until after the challenge opens, so until you receive your child’s login details you can record any PRC books read on paper.

Parents need to keep the username and password safe, and then log in to the PRC website – google “PRC NSW”. On the website you can download the booklist and then log all the books your child reads. Each child who reads the required number of books will receive a special official certificate in Term 4 (through the school).

The OLRC has collected all the PRC books and marked them with special PRC stickers so they can be located easily. If you plan on participating and don’t yet have an ID and Password just write down the name of books your son or daughter reads and you can log them all when we send the ID and Password home.
