Tahlia took to the world stage at the 27th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions in Tokyo and despite badly injuring her foot right before leaving Australia and having disruptions to her regular training schedule, she still managed to come second!

“At first it didn’t feel real that I was going to Tokyo and that I’d be up against some crazy talented people and representing my country”, Tahlia explained.

Tahlia started trampolining when she was just six, after watching older brother Ethan perform from the sidelines.

Her major achievements to date include taking out two national titles in 2018 (aged 10) and 2019 (aged 11), and placing first in both individual trampoline and double mini trampoline in the U13 Youth category!

The Year 6 student trains 10 hours a week and understandably finds it hard juggling assignments and schoolwork… but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying an array of other activities outside of the gym. Athletics, cross country, bike riding, soccer, swimming, tumbling on her air mat, jumping on her trampoline and playing with her dogs are just some of Tahlia’s other interests.

When asked what she enjoyed the most about trampolining and
gymnastics, Tahlia said,

“I love the feeling when I jump because I feel free. I like the challenge of learning new skills and the feeling you get when you achieve them. I like competition, but most of all I love the friendships I have made over the years.”

Tahlia was a Hills Shire Times Junior Sports Star nominee and finalist 2 years in a row for 2018 and 2019 Local Sports Stars competition. She is dreaming big and hopes to qualify for the Olympics. We can’t wait to see where God takes her on her already outstanding journey!
