Pac Hills students are becoming Alive!

lunchtime cru web 03CRU (formerly Crusaders) is a Bible-based, interdenominational Christian youth organisation that has been working in independent schools since 1930 to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

They’ve been visiting and supporting our lunchtime groups (Alive, Insight & Fresh) since 2008 – helping to train young Christians for a life of servant leadership and encourage them to live for Jesus.

The Schools Ministry team at CRU seek to do this by supporting school lunch time groups with prayer and teaching resources, giving Bible talks in lunch groups and chapels, training students to run lunch time groups, and connecting students and teachers with other Christians in the CRU network from other schools.

Dan Perrott, who visits and supports the lunch time group, has been really encouraged during his time at Pacific Hills.

“One time I had a student come up to me after I’ve explained the gospel at Fresh, saying, “I’ve just understood the gospel for the first time in a powerful way!” That was really encouraging”.

Many Pacific Hills students attend CRU camps, including ‘Crosstrain’ - a 5-day annual leadership camp where students become equipped with ministry skills such as learning how to teach the Bible upfront, how to pray publically and how to effectively run games and activities. They also get to encourage each other, get to know students from other schools, and pray for each other. They can then impart these new skills into their lunch group to minister to others and tell the next generation about Jesus.

Dan explains, “We love supporting schools and students in these ways that have an eternal impact. What’s been really encouraging is seeing God’s work on the next generation of students. Media and culture keep telling us that religion and Christianity are on the decline. Visiting schools such as Pacific Hills has shown me that God is still powerfully at work raising up the next generation of Christians who are passionate about sharing the news of Jesus with others”.

He continues, “I’m incredibly grateful to see how God works through the ministry of CRU. Last year alone, CRU Schools Ministry shared the gospel of Jesus with over 90,000 students. We hear stories of how students have grown in their faith through lunchtime groups, events we run, training, and students having that connection with other Christians in other schools. On the one hand, whilst I get to come in to schools to support and encourage teachers, I also daily get encouragement just seeing the impact being made through the lunch groups that the teachers help facilitate.”

Junior School Teacher Miss Brittany Walker heads up Alive for students in Kindy to Year 3 alongside Senior School leaders and the group meets every Monday lunch time.

“The Senior School leaders are dedicated, friendly and sacrifice their time to lead games and teach the children more about God. The Junior School students have enjoyed building relationships with others, playing games as well as deepening their knowledge and understanding of God”.

Pacific Hills looks forward to continuing to partner with CRU through our lunchtime groups and the wonderful camps and events CRU offers.
