Middle School - Term 1, Week 7, 2019

Thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming to me as I start my new role as Head of Middle School.

A bit about myself
I am married with 4 children and all of my children currently attend Pacific Hills in Junior School and Senior School. I have been teaching since 1996, first in the public system after receiving a scholarship to teach Mathematics in a Western Sydney school. Later I moved to Tyndale Christian School in Blacktown and then to Pacific Hills. During my time at Pacific Hills I have had various roles including IT Coordinator, Faculty Head Teacher and Year Advisor.

In 2008 my young family and I went to Kenya for one year to work in a small school in the Kibera slums. This was a wonderful experience for all of us and instilled in us as a family a heart for mission and serving God cross culturally. After returning to Pacific Hills in 2009 we again left for Indonesia in 2014, where I was appointed Academic Principal of an International Christian School in Jakarta. It was again a wonderful privilege to return to Pacific Hills in 2018 as Group Director of Learning Technologies and now to serve as Head of Middle School.

I look forward to getting to know you and your children during their time in Middle School. If you have any concerns or would like to chat then please contact the Middle School office and organise a time to meet.

Please continue to pray for Mr Colin Wood as he also starts his new role as Deputy Principal.

Safe Online Practices Seminar
Thank you to the parents who came to the Safe Online Practices seminar on Wednesday. It was a wonderful evening and hopefully valuable to you as parents as you seek to lead your families in safe and a God honouring way.

Service Project
All students are involved in the 40th Birthday Service Project running over the remainder of Term 1. Information has been provided to students and there is also a section in the diary for information and guidance. We trust that this is a positive experience for everyone involved.

Parent Teacher Interviews
Information regarding the Parent Teacher Interviews has been sent to parents. If you have not received your PTO login then please:

  • Go to the school’s home page: www.pacifichills.net
  • Click the PTO icon in the drop down menu
  • Click “Obtain PIN/Password” and enter your email address. Your PIN will be emailed to you.

Parent Teacher Interviews are a great opportunity to meet your child’s classroom teacher and a practical outworking of our commitment to partner with you in your God-given role as the primary educators of your children.

I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Mr Gavin Neale
Head of Middle School
