ACT (Academic Curriculum Tutoring) Program

senior school noticeIntroducing the new Academic Curriculum Tutoring Program or ACT Program for short.

What is the ACT Program?
In summary:

  • ACT Program is a weekly 1-hour after-school tutoring service targeted at Years 7 to 12 students of all abilities to assist them with their school work.
  • The goal of ACT Program is to improve students' Numeracy and Literacy skills.
  • ACT Program provides easy and convenient application and payment processes.
  • ACT Program is held every Thursday from 3pm to 4pm on school premises.
  • Tutors will be High School graduates who have excelled in their HSC examinations and/or PHCS Senior Students who have achieved well in school. All of our tutors are screened and vetted, and must carry valid Working With Children Checks.
  • All tutoring groups are kept small (maximum of 6 students per tutor) to ensure that each student receives ample attention.
  • Weekly tuition sessions are charged per student per term at an affordable rate.

My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Colossians 2:2-3

The ACT Program aims to encourage and train students into a love of learning. Through this service, we hope to equip students' minds to understand God's perspective in all areas of learning. In addition, our goal is to help each child achieve his or her God given potential.

The ACT Program offers tuition services that are designed to assist students in all subjects from Years 7 to 12, with all levels of personal ability. Our goal is to improve the Literacy and Numeracy skills of our students. We primarily assist students who are completing the following:

The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus (Years 7 to 12)
NAPLAN Preparation (Years 7 and 9)
The Higher School Certificate (Year 12)
Our goal is to help our students become independent learners, with a strong foundation for future studies. At the very first lesson, students are given stage-appropriate Numeracy and Literacy pre-tests to help tutors understand their abilities. Students will be tutored by recent HSC graduates or current PHCS Senior Students. Each tutor will have a group of up to 6 students and students will receive exemplary and personalised tuition services, including help on improving study techniques and time management. Teachers will always be present to ensure that the program is running smoothly and provide assistance when needed.

Your convenience is important to us!
