In May, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will complete the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) in all schools across Australia. The tests allow the Federal and State Governments and the Education bodies within each state to assess the literacy and numeracy learning of students and to determine appropriate minimum standards and benchmarks for student performance and achievement.
The tests will be completed by all candidates on the same days, in keeping with the following schedule.
- Tuesday 9 May: Language Conventions test (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and a separate Writing test
- Wednesday 10 May: Reading test
- Thursday 11 May: Numeracy test
Friday 12 May is a designated “catch-up” day for students who have been absent on any of the previous three days.
