Year 7 Science Fair

2019 06 13 yr7 science fair web 051…7…10…130. The Science Fair in June was the first such event for our Year 7’s to be involved in. They had worked very diligently for the last 10 weeks on their chosen projects and on the day the MPC was filled with 130 amazing Science projects.

There was great excitement in the air as the Year 7’s presented their projects.

It was a great encouragement to see students challenging themselves to investigate and find answers to their inquiry research question. It was also inspiring to see the variety of topics covered ranging from magnetic levitation as wheeled transport, viscosity of liquids and sound wave frequencies affecting movement, making gluten-free flour taste better, using vegetable/fruit to generate electricity, and the rate of formation of mould in different burger buns (!).

Six prizes were awarded during the Science Fair: First place was won by Micah Neil, second by Annike Taylor, third went to Lydia Piper, fourth was Flynn McManus and fifth was Daniella Webb. The Students Choice Award went to Gerry Lahood.

Thank you to the Year 7 Science teachers…Mrs Wright, Ms Wise, Mr Mitchell and Mrs Harmeling, and Ms Carruthers, Mrs Kelly Baker and Mr Petschack for a successful and well organised Year 7 Science Fair.
