2019 RACI Titration Competition

2019 06 15 raci titration comp preview 01A contingent of Year 10, 11 and 12 students recently competed in the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s NSW Titration Competition and were up against teams from Barker College, Hills Grammar, Mamre Anglican School, Mater Maria Catholic College and SCEGGS.
The 24 Chemistry students were split into eight teams to determine the unknown concentrations of Sodium Hydroxide and Acetic Acid solutions using a standardised Hydrochloric Acid solution. Scores were calculated by combining the deviation squared of each individual’s reported result. Meaning, the lower the score the better the result.

It was great see our students trying their best and putting into practice what they have learnt from their Chemistry teachers; Zoe Tonge, Nicole Luk and Laura Wright.

Special mention goes to Isabel Jackson (Year 11) and Te-Jen Yu (Year 10) who had individual scores of 1 and 5 respectively. Well done!
