Celebrating 40 Years Of God’s Goodness

40 years featured story previewPacific Hills Christian School started celebrating our 40th birthday with a series of wonderful events  commencing on May 17-18.

Junior School was transformed into a picturesque garden tea party where past and present staff, teachers and students reminisced over a beautiful afternoon tea. It was remarkable to hear about the early years from such people as former teacher Ros Hales and alumni student Anna Crawford.

On Sunday, a church service was held followed by an afternoon tea in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC). Lovely sentiments and comments were shared by Dr Tina Lamont, Dr Ted Boyce, Chairman of the Board Mark McCrindle, and Board Members Max Maddock and Tony Morgan. We also heard about the School’s mission trip experiences from Paul McConnell and Mel Razey. Guests enjoyed delicious coffee made by our Property Manager Lee Pratt and his wife Steph.

On May 21st, the actual date when our school story began, we enjoyed a Thanksgiving Service in the Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC). We were joined by the Honourable Brendan Nelson and Hornsby Mayor, the Honourable Philip Ruddock, both of whom have been friends of our school for many years. Staff who had served here for 21 or more years were honoured by being seated on the stage.

Bivianos Italian Restaurant in Dural was packed to the rafters on Thursday night for our 40th Anniversary Dinner. More than 280 guests attended including our international sister schools Mawar Christian School from Indonesia, Bethlehem College and Middleton Grange from New Zealand, and Macau Baptist College from Macau. We heard from Julian Leeser MP, the Member for Berowra, the Honorable Matt Keane MP, the Member for Hornsby, and Philip Ruddock, the Mayor of Hornsby Shire.

Chris Milne from the class of 1990 provided comic relief through his recollections of student life. Julianne Duggan shared about her experiences as both a Board Member and former student. And, guests enjoyed the beautiful singing of alumni Lauren Petschack (nee McDougall) as well as a beautiful duet that she performed with her mother.

It was a special night of reflection and celebration of the amazing work God has done over the past 40 years. The evening concluded with the cutting of a large birthday cake.

Additional anniversary celebrations are being planned for the remainder of the year.

Here’s to seeing where God takes us in The Next 40!
