Higher School Certificate Results 2018

2018 10 19 year12 2018 web 01The HSC results were released to schools on 13th December. Congratulations go to each of the 114 students of the 2018 cohort who have achieved outstanding results in this year’s HSC examinations. These fine results are a testimony to the hard work of students and staff and the support of parents in their children’s education. The school is a comprehensive non-selective school seeking to honour and serve God in all that we do including using academic skills and gifts. The publication of these results is an opportunity to celebrate the gifts and talents God has given to students at the school but it is also a chance to remember the contribution of all the Year 12 students culturally, academically, on the sporting field and in serving and sharing of their faith.

The HSC cohort of 2018 achieved some outstanding results across a wide range of subject areas. There were 134 students who completed HSC courses in 2018 including 20 Year 11 Augustine students who completed a selection of courses as part of the Acceleration program. 33 HSC courses were offered at Pacific Hills in 2018.


2018 Highlights
Overall Results

  • The top ATAR at PHCS was 98.8 and was achieved by James Young
  • 11% of students received an ATAR above 90
  • PHCS students achieved 53 Band 6 (or E4) results.

Premier’s All Round Achievers List

  • James Young was listed on the Premier’s All Round Achievers List (achieving more than 90% in all their courses i.e. the highest Band possible in at least 10 units))
    Congratulation’s go to James for this achievement.

Distinguished Achievers List

  • PHCS students achieved 53 Band 6 results (or Band E4) and were mentioned on the Distinguished Achievers List. These top band results were achieved by 34 students of whom 10 were Augustine Acceleration students (Year 11)
  • 21% of Year 12 students received Band 6 results in at least one of their subjects
  • 10 Augustine students studied Mathematics, Mathematics Extension 1 and Physics and received 16 mentions on the Distinguished Achievers List (Band 6 or E4 results)

  • SOR 1U, 55% of students in Bands 5 and 6, well above State Bands 5 and 6 (36.72%)
  • Legal Studies 50% of students in Bands 5 above State average in Bands 5 and 6 (44%)
  • Maths General 32.75% of students in Bands 5 and 6, above State Bands 5 and 6 (26.64%)
  • Biology 48% of students in Bands 5 above State Bands 5 and 6 (42.08%)
  • Ancient History 45.45% of students in Bands 5 and 6, above State average (36%)
  • All students in English Extension 2 received a Band E3 or E4.
  • Music 2 , all students achieved a Band 5 or Band 6
  • Mathematics Extension 1, 97% of students achieved a Band E3 or E4
  • All students in English Extension 1 and History Extension received a Band E3
