Brain Bee Hamish Watkins buzzing to the next level of competition

2018 05 02 brain bee web 02For the last two terms, 4 Year 10 students (Susan Lee, Daniel Teo, Josh Taylor and Hamish Watkins) who are part of Project REAL, have been studying and learning about the Brain and Neuroscience. As part of the program, students were invited to challenge themselves through an external competition Australian Brain Bee Challenge (ABBC) organised by the University of New South Wales- UNSW.

This year, the competition attracted over 1000+ students across NSW state and PHCS had a team of four compete in round 1. We are very pleased to announce that Hamish Watkins has made it to the top 85 students across the state!!

Hamish has been invited to represent PHCS in the NSW State Finals on Thursday 14th June at UNSW. He will have the opportunity to compete in 3 rounds of question time to qualify for National Finals. He’ll also get to meet with Professor Housley and the Translational Neuroscience team and visit their research lab. It is an outstanding achievement for Hamish! Congratulations also go out to the other students who worked really hard.
