Pacific Hills Year 5/6 Cricket Team

ms boys cricket 01The Year 5/6 Pacific Hills cricket team had an outstanding season, finishing 2nd in the CSSA cricket competition. This feat has not been achieved in over 5 years, and it required a lot of determination and hard work.

For our first day out, we travelled to Berowra to face Northern Beaches Christian School and Berowra Christian School. Our first game was against Northern Beaches. Pacific Hills won the toss and chose to bat. Josh Osborne and Josh Baker (captain) opened the batting and scored Josh.O 33 and 29 respectively. The final score was 5 for 86. Northern Beaches finished their innings with 7 for 68 with Regan Bridgewater and Declan O'Connor both achieving figures of 2 for 6. In the next game against Berowra, we won comfortably.

In our next trip, we played at our home ground, Dural Park. We won the toss against Wycliffe Christian School and elected to bat. Again, Josh.B and Josh.O starred with the bat both scoring 50 not out (retired). Pacific Hills finished the innings with an incredible score of 119 off 12 overs. Next, we bowled, with Jason Turner finishing with figures of 2 for 8, after Wycliffe were bowled out for 33 - Pacific Hills winning by 86 runs.

Our next and hardest match was against Belmont Christian School. Pacific Hills again won the toss and elected to bat. Josh Baker was again the standout scoring 52 not out (retired). Josh Osborne and Jason Turner both scored 20 with Jason unbeaten, making a total score of 96. It came down to the wire until Regan and Declan struck three wickets between them to win the game for Pac Hills by 6 runs. An amazing effort after being under pressure at the start.

In the grand final, Pacific Hills were matched with Cedars Christian School from Wollongong. It was a long drive for both teams, the game being at Sutherland. Again Pac Hills elected to bat. Josh.B added another 50 to his tally scoring 59 not out. The rest of the team unfortunately collapsed by the excellent bowling from Cedars. We ended up with 98. Pacific Hills started well with 2 early wickets, but failed to secure the win after Cedars overtook our score with a six to win, having two overs left.

Overall, it was an astounding effort by a team that had never played together before. Go PAC HILLS!
