Senior School

Senior School @ Pacific Hills

Senior School is a sub-school within Pacific Hills which encompasses Years 9 to 12. We teach all subjects from a Christian perspective because we believe that education is about helping people to grow in wisdom and knowledge and to be critical thinkers who will help and serve others.

In Senior School we aim to equip and prepare students for life after school. This is achieved through an emphasis on developing critical thinking. Therefore we do far more than simply impart knowledge. Our educational emphasis in Senior School is expressed through our college style culture, which combines "learning in community" with the development of personal responsibility for learning. That is, we move away from the model of the teacher being the primary source of knowledge. Instead our students are supported in taking responsibility for their learning through being actively involved in the education process. The success of the collegiate culture has contributed to the strong academic performance of students as they assume greater responsibility for their learning, while cultivating a character and heart that delights in serving others.

We believe that students at Pacific Hills receive a comprehensive education through a wide variety of classroom experiences and collaborative learning opportunities. Outside class opportunities are also integrated within the curriculum. These include Service opportunities both locally and overseas, Student Leadership programs, Year based Camp programs, Sports, Musicals and Academic Competitions. Many of our students are gifted in extraordinary ways - intellectually, physically and creatively. Our culture is one in which students are able to develop their gifts, achieve excellence and serve the community with the gifts God has given them.

In Senior School the relationship between the parent, child and teacher is central to the educational process. Emphasis is placed on the development of relationship through the context of community. We believe this best prepares our students to make positive contributions to society.
